Project Overview:

Cuba E-Taxis is a modern, cross-platform mobile application designed to simplify and improve transportation across Cuba, covering both urban and rural regions. The app connects passengers with nearby drivers through a real-time matching system, delivering a smooth and reliable ride-booking experience.

The core objective was to develop a robust, scalable, and user-friendly rideshare solution that works seamlessly across iOS and Android platforms. The project demanded strong backend architecture, intuitive UI/UX, and real-time features to cater to the specific mobility challenges faced by Cuban users.

Problem Points

Maintaining a consistent user interface across different screens was challenging, which affected the overall user experience.
Coordinating between designers and developers without a streamlined communication system led to delays and misalignment.
Creating realistic and user-friendly prototypes for core features like ride booking and in-app messaging took considerable time and effort.
It was difficult to integrate new features into the existing design system without breaking other components.
Designing for both iOS and Android required careful planning to avoid platform-specific UI/UX inconsistencies.

Solution Points

A centralized design system and reusable component library were created in Figma, ensuring visual consistency and reducing development errors.
Figma’s collaboration tools—like commenting and version history—were used to streamline communication among team members.
Fully functional and animated prototypes were developed to simulate real app behavior, aiding user testing and iteration.
